And we truly are surrounded. We'll explain once we have decent internet service to add some photos.
We arrived at the Desert Rose RV Park, about 20 minutes east of Reno, Nevada, by 3:30 pm yesterday afternoon. Our trip over the Sierra Nevada mountains was smooth....but slow due to high mountain elevations and with some tight twist and turns. Highway 36 to 395 is one beautiful two lane highway though.
The internet service in this park is far overstated. Try as we did, we could not access the Internet for more than 20-30 seconds at a time before being booted off. Once the Amazonians arrived, we could not even access the internet.
That being said, we have decided to stay one more night and go find a cell card for our iPad and reinstate our very own Virgin Mobile internet stick.
So.......more after we tech up and control our own services.
Thanks for dropping in.
We gave up years ago relying on rv park internet.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting yours going.
Always frustrating when you can't get an Internet or TV signal. Good luck and continued safe travels!
ReplyDeleteJust caught up on your trip, looks like it's been great so far less the Internet problem. Neat change to this years route. Safe travels to you both!
ReplyDeleteHey Allen, send me your email, when you get a chance (to: gen4@shaw.ca) and I can let you know when we will be in your area.
ReplyDeleteIn our experience, RV park wifi is worthless--the park we stayed in while down in Texas last year advertised super fast, stream movie type wifi--what a joke!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Janna.
ReplyDeleteWe just spent 6 hours with two really good Verizon store techs who could not unlock our iPad Mini to make a SIM card work. So.....a complete day wasted (because of Apple) and we are no further ahead. Apple will have to unlock this iPad. Nothing but trouble and wasted time. It should not be that tough to get a simple SIM card installed and use the iPad as a WiFi hot spot. That was our objective. Ho Hum.
Too bad about the difficulties unlocking your iPad Mini. I believe that iPads are sold unlocked in the USA now but here in Canada they are just getting around to it even though they've been ordered to by the Federal Government.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to check out the website below as it has a download tool to unlock the iPads from Canadian carriers.
Unlock iPad Mini
I can't vouch for this tool as I've never used it - just providing it for your own consideration.
