Happy Easter!

A Happy Easter to all!
We are hosting a turkey dinner with family and friends today.

The flowers are alive and well!
Nothing better than sunny and warm days to get us moving on completing outdoor projects.  I had purchased new shingles for the back yard shed project but had to wait - patiently - for a dry, warm day to get at it.  That finally happened yesterday.

The shed that was moved to our yard last fall came with grey shingles.  Our home has brown shingles.  The objective was to change out the grey for brown ASAP.
With one coffee break and one lunch break, it took only five hours of work to complete the task.  Although I had thought about removing the existing layer of shingles, that seemed pointless.   I chose to nail the new shingles over the existing.  It worked out fine.
It was a short sleeve day out there.  The temps rose to  balmy 17 degrees Celsius.
The roof now conforms with the house.  A coat of trim paint around the new window, door and facia, and the shed will look like it has been there since the house was built.  I will be left with installing soffits and eave throughs.

THE MASTERS!

Sure hoping Phil Mickelson takes his 4th green jacket today.  He is one of my favourite players. I was rooting for Fred Couples till he faltered yesterday.  I still believe he has the smoothest swing in PGA golf...and he's a really great guy too!

So, while waiting for our Easter dinner company to arrive this afternoon, I will be closely watching 'The Masters' final round....while trying to be available to assist Jeanette with dinner preparations.  Although not a cook, I am a pretty darned good assistant - when required - in the kitchen.

Thanks for dropping by.

  5. With such a lovely weather, I'm glad you guys did something productive out of it. In most cases, you have to tear off and replace the existing shingles, but since most of the existing ones seem to be okay, there's no need for you to tear them off. And the shingles finally match! What shade of brown did you use, by the way?
