No Golf Today....The Wind Blew That Away...

We had a Tee-Time reserved for 10:30  this morning.  Well, the wind reared its ugly head and blew that idea away.  It felt like gale force winds out here in the desert.  To add to insult, the daytime temperature refused to nudge much over 45 degrees. Unusual...but real.

Yesterday was a different story though.  Although it was quite cool, Jeanette and I decided to gear up with heated motorcycle clothes and head off to check out the west side of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.  The west side is in California and the town includes a casino, RV park, marina, gas station a food store and a few other small businesses. We headed south on California Highway 95. About 40 miles later, we reached our destination.  That side (west side) of the lake is controlled and owned by the native Chemehuevi Band and the town is known as Havasu Landing

 Although it was quite cool for a ride, our heated grips and riding clothes kept us toasty.  The return trip was cool on the face though.

We had read that there is no road access to the other side of the lake.  The only service available is a fair weather passenger only ferry boat.  It was leaving as we approached the marina.  

One small snowbird gated development looked quite impressive.  We could not get past the gates so we could not get any decent photos....but it was quite new and well planned.

Near a boon docking spot - about four miles due west from Havasu Landing - was this happy sign in the desert.  We could not get a very good photo of the lonesome RV trailer out there but the flag was a large, green, Saskatchewan Rough Riders Football one.  There was no one around to chat with.

 Back in mid-afternoon, we tootled around our RV park - resort area.  It is a nice development that mainly caters to a hectic summer crowd.  In the winter months, other than the snowbirds, it's fairly quiet.

Very nice facilities - outdoors and in - including a grocery store and a restaurant.  Laundry facilities are also available.

These beautiful, $230/night, chalets dot the river's edge - in a protected tributary - and can accommodate several guests.

Of the better than 15 units, it appeared only 4-5 were rented out.

The marina sits quietly too.

We have seen photos of this place in the summer and it is a crazy house of young people, boats galore, busy zip lines, partying and camping.  Locals speak to the absolute chaos of summer fun enjoyed by those who like crazy fun.

This is well organized area and the management group has done a fine job of keeping the environment in check. Other than a few full service - on pavement - RV sites, the preferred sites are on the 24 pods that jot out on the Colorado River.  Those full service sites are more appealing to us.

Well, with the winds still gusting, we will have to rebook our golf round for another day.  Typically, if one can stay out of the wind, it's quite pleasant outdoors. We'll spend some time catching up on our reading.
