Bright, Frosty and Sunny Days....

With the awful weather fellow Canadians and Americans are dealing with in the central and eastern regions, we count our lucky stars for the balmy weather we have here on the west coast of British Columbia.  It's not the sun and heat found in the US southwest but it's quite OK.

Removing the Christmas decorations - including outdoor lights.
When the rain took a break, a few days back, I got out and removed the Christmas decorations.  After so many days of being a couch potato (working on cleansing myself from the flu bug) it felt great to get out in the fresh air.
Its a custom of ours to invite our neighbours for a pre-Christmas get together but that got delayed this year.  We held it this past Saturday evening though and it was fun.  Our neighbours came by at 4:00 pm.  Jeanette had prepared a wide variety of finger foods that were enjoyed with the libations of choice.
A post Christmas get together, in a relaxed environment, with a very short commute to get back home, is quite enjoyable.
By 9:00 pm, we had caught up on everyone's lives and everyone headed back for home.  Good fun!
With the clear night skies, of late, the mornings deliver a heavy frost.  I should have parked our vehicle in the garage...but after a few minutes of operating the defrost heater, the Nissan's windshield was clear.
We enjoy the sunny and crispy days over the more normal grey and misty ones.
Sunday morning called for a get together of the 'Open Mic' group.  When I stepped outdoors, early, the eastern sky was most interesting to look at.  I quickly got the camera to take the photo below.
The mountains to the east of our home......using full zoom.
It has been quiet on the home front; other than the activities expressed above.  We've watched a couple more Apple TV movies and Jeanette has been holed up in her sewing cave working on projects of interest.  I've been reading a new novel and completing  some fix ups on household projects.  Nothing major......just some small things that needed attention.

We will ramp up our outdoor activities now that I have returned to near normal health.  We look forward to taking some regular hikes in the local trails near here while we wait for word on the birth of our 2nd grandchild.

Jeanette and Courtney have exchanged text messages and although slightly past the due date, her baby is in no rush to leave the comforts of the womb.  We're ready to head to Edmonton though, once Deni and Courtney's baby is born.

Oh.....Easton and his mom are dropping by for a visit today and that is always something to look forward to.

That sums things up from here.

Thanks for dropping in.

  1. It looks fairly dry, and that's a bonus! Glad you're feeling better, and we hope you get to go to Edmonton soon.
Geez, that's a strange thing to say, being from Edmonton myself ;)

Looked like a nice post Christmas gathering with your neighbors and what a beautiful sunrise photo you captured. Looking forward to you announcing your new grandchild's arrival. Have a great afternoon with Easton!

  3. Glad to see you're having comfortable weather. We're experiencing the same weather as when we left home. From what the kids tell us we are glad we're not there.
Hope everything goes wonderfully with the new arrival coming soon. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  4. Sure sounds like you're in a nice comfortable holding pattern waiting for the arrival of your new grandchild.

A bit of rain on the westcoast in winter is never all that bad in comparison to the rest of the country.

    Nice pic of Easton.
