Back to the Desert

That's right!  Jeanette and I are off to Palm Springs, this May 6th, to retrieve our new motorcycle and ride it back home to British Columbia.  It will be a mid-morning departure from the Bellingham, WA, airport.  With a noon time arrival in Palm Springs, we'll cab the short few blocks to the storage facility before heading out for our first night stop in Temecula, CA.  The motorcycle will be serviced at the HD dealer there.

The Harley we are going to be riding back home
Our planned route back for home includes riding the Pacific Coast Highway 1 and the 101.  We're hoping the southern California fires won't force a change of plans but we'll  roll around it if need be.
Looking forward to the ride.....
Friday was reserved for a golf game at the former home of the PGA Air Canada Championship Ridge Course at Northview Golf And Country Club. And what a day that turned out to be.
#18 finishing hole.
Saturday's ride to the little city of Port Coquitlam to visit my Aunt.
On Saturday, we rode the 35 minutes or so to visit my aunt who lives in Port Coquitlam, BC.  We had made arrangements to have tea and a chat in mid-afternoon.  The weather was great so we took our Nomad out for a two wheel ride.
A brief stop at the Stave Lake dam and power generating station
We rode all back country through the Stave Lake mountain country  and chose to stop for a break at this spectacular little river inlet below the dam.  I always get a chuckle at the little unused tug boat that sits at anchor directly below the dam.
Holding hands, it would be impossible for Jeanette and I to surround this giant cedar tree.
We arrived at 3:00 pm sharp and enjoyed a nice 90 minute visit with Aunt Kay.  We had the added bonus of visiting with one of her daughters (my cousin, Elaine), her son and another cousin.  They had dropped by too.  A nice visit was had.
 Aunt Kay and Jeanette
Easton dropped by for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon.  He chose to help his Nana with some laundry to speed up the house chores because he wanted to head out for a stroller ride.
Busy little beaver.
Captivated by this tractor working a field nearby.  He could have watched for hours.
Well, time to call an end to this blog and get packing for an early start to our day tomorrow, Monday.

Thanks for dropping by.

  3. Congrats on the new HD! looks like an Ultra Classic like ours! Will you still haul it on your swivelwheel? We do... but we have often commented on how much lighter your bike is on your swivelwheel. But we haven't had a problem.
