Seasonal Stuff....

I lack for things to report on when we're not overly mobile.  This time of the season is when we tend to be more house bound.  Living in a rain forest can do that.  Between rains though, we do manage to get out and about.

Taking a walk following breakfast with friends Lorne and Mariette this past Sunday.
Lorne, Mariette and I - Fraser River in the background.
Our recent primary activities have included breakfast with good friends (this past Sunday), lunch with some of my golf buddies (that was yesterday), chipping in to help Trevor, Ginette and Easton with setting up their Christmas tree, planning for our RVing journey south, wrapping Christmas gifts, catching up on reading, and attending pre-Christmas gatherings.  Jeanette has several nurse related pre-Christmas parties to attend - beginning with a luncheon at the Northview Golf and Country Club today.

Kuma the cat enjoys sitting under Ginette, Easton and Trevor's Christmas tree.
When Jeanette was away visiting in Alberta recently, I did put paint to brush to complete one home improvement project.  When we moved into this home, some 21 months ago or so, I had painted the entire house but had not completed painting our master bathroom.

The feature wall in the master bedroom
It was always our intention to paint our master bathroom the very same colour as the feature wall in the master bedroom.  I did accomplish that recently.
Previous colour was builder, boring, beige!
The final result got high ratings from Jeanette when she returned home from snowy Alberta.
Good result
This is a large master bath but, you get the picture.

With two more bathrooms and the laundry room to paint, those projects will await inclement weather days in 2013.  The paint brushes are stored away. It isn't as though the other rooms are in desperate need of re-painting, it's just our desire to get that done sometime in the future. Having an open timeline is great, isn't it?

The vinyl to digital conversion continues.
My music transfers continue in earnest.  I have been spending a few hours - almost every day - working on completing the vinyl to digital conversion of select music cuts from our sizable record collection.  I am truly enjoying this task.  The MP3 files are stored in iTunes.  It's fun to revisit old tunes and to save those that I have always liked.  If an LP is scratched and the transfer is 'stat-icky' I trash it.  There is no sense in listening to inferior quality. I can always get a clean cut from the iTunes store.

The ION Profile Pro USB turntable, I am using to convert these files, results in amazingly great sound quality.   Although I had expected reasonably good sound, I am thrilled by an even higher result.

Jeanette has been keeping busy with sewing projects and, just yesterday, she wrapped all the Christmas gifts.  Other than a few details to conclude, she is well organized for the coming festive season.
This photo was taken a few days ago during our regular walks in a great hiking trail nearby.
The Rockin' Horse Trail, near our home, never disappoints. It is a beautiful trail, nestled in the woods, that offers new views almost every time we walk it.  The photo above is but one of several thousands of ferns that grow in the forest.  At this time of the year, that's the greenery that really jumps out, with all the deciduous leaves now gone.
The groomed trail is fantastic to hike in all weather.
The high rainfall has pooled into nice reflective ponds.

So, as of today, I count 19 days to Christmas - when family and friends will be here to celebrate in earnest - and 23 days till the RV wheels start rolling south.  What's not to like?

Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Nice job painting Rene' sure like your color choices. Sounds like the work is done, and time just to enjoy all the holiday festivities. Can imagine how special it will be with Easton this year for you both. Rocking Horse Trail at Aldergrove was one of our favorite walking spots, along with Campbell this past summer. You have me convinced to transfer our vinyl also just checking out some turntables. Have a great week!

  8. Trevor, Jeanette and Easton's Christmas Tree looks wonderful - next year Easton will be all over that, I'll bet.

Great job on the painting. I'm amazed that you can pick colors that Jeanette loves - I can never do that. I guess it's because she gets tired of seeing 'off-white eggshell' on all the walls.

    Nice looking hike pics!
