Festivities...

There was a surge in activities these past couple of days.  We've had several visitors to the RV.  Friday saw Ginette and Trevor's family and friends drop by the RV to hang out.

With raindrops falling off and on, everyone stayed inside the RV to exchange banter and laughs.

Easton seemed to be enjoying himself.

Friday evening had us all attend a Bar-B-Que at Trevor's mom's place in Summerland.  This was the pre-get together before Sandi (Trevor's mom) would wed her friend Bob at a formal ceremony on the Summerland waterfront on Saturday.

Saturday morning, Nana Jeanette took Easton for a walk around the RV site and along Lake Okanagan.  She captured this nice photo (below) along the way.

A tad later, Trevor took his son for a hike, run and walk along the waterfront.

By noon it was time to spiffy up and ready for the 15 minute drive from Peachland to Summerland to attend the official wedding ceremony.

Easton was a big draw. Those folks who had not met him before were keen to hold him.  He sure had a lot of takers and he seemed to manage that quite well.  In spite of all the jostling and handovers, he was a trooper.

We saw our long time friends Garry and Aline once again....and we had the opportunity to meet many new people too.

 It was a lovely afternoon.  The sun was out and the temperature was just right.  The gathering of folks was enjoying a perfect, late spring afternoon.

This resort was the perfect setting, on an awesome day, for a wonderful ceremony. Yeah!

Garry is enjoying kisses from his daughter Nicole (L) and our daughter Ginette (R).  The two girls are often believed to be sisters.  The great friends that they are is wonderful. They act like sisters too.

That pretty well colours the past two days.  Trevor, Ginette and Easton will be driving back to the west coast this Sunday afternoon.  Jeanette and I will arrange to get together with several friends we have not seen in some time and who live in the Okanagan Valley.  More to come.

Great Camp Spot....and WiFi fixed, finally!

Jeanette and I made good time, after leaving home, for Peachland in the Okanagan Valley.  That was last Wednesday.

Peachland was our destination.

We did try to blog - and to access the internet - but there was a problem with the RV Park WiFi.  Thursday morning had me on the computer, for a few hours, trying to resolve the internet issue....till I finally gave up (believing it might be my PC WiFi card.... but, it wasn't....and the fault lay with the RV Park WiFi). We had to head over for mid- morning coffee with friends, Aline and Garry so I ended my PC troubleshooting.

Beautiful, small and rustic 50 + year old RV park with only two 'big rig' sites.

The view from the entrance to the RV Park is stunning.  This family owned park is over 50 years old.  It's a gem!  It includes all services, including 50 amp power.

With so many activities going on, and with Ginette, Trevor and Easton joining us at noon Thursday, I did not get the chance to try out the WiFi till this morning.  It worked fine today....and the signal strength equals all five bars.  Nice!

We offered up some lunch and enjoyed the partially cloudy but warm outdoor temperatures.

Trevor's mom, who lives in Summerland - a few miles down the road - drove up to retrieve her mom and take her home.  Meanwhile, the rest of us headed up from the lake and RV Park to visit our good friends who retired here in Peachland.

Aline and Garry are close and long time family friends.  Our children grew up together and we spent many occasions visiting each others' homes when we lived in White Rock.  In fact, Aline and Garry are our son and daughter's second parents.

We had a really nice visit before getting back to our RV spot where I prepared to look after Easton while Trevor attended a pre-wedding gathering and Ginette and Jeanette joined a group of other like minded girls for a dinner out to celebrate a birthday.

Hey, it's you and me tonight Easton!  We'll have a guys evening!  What's not to like about that?

So, Easton and I did just that.  We had a great evening.  I watched TV and he slept.  That's what babies do when well fed, have nice dry diapers and are warm.  No problem there.  We had all the bases covered.  What a treat!

A few hours later, Jeanette returned from her dinner out and we hung out with Easton till his folks returned from their pre-wedding activities.

My major babysitting duties!

Itching to Hitching

We are off tomorrow on the four hour drive east from the coast, over the mountains, and into the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.  Well known for it desert like temperate climate and great Canadian vineyards and wines, we plan to spend 12 days or so catching up with good friends, family, and attending a wedding.

Let the loading begin!

It took little effort and time to hook up and pull the 5th wheel forward onto the driveway.  We began loading in earnest - especially in the galley where Jeanette made good time re-stocking the pantry and loading the two refrigerators.

It's always fun to open up the slides and check out the systems only to find that everything worked the way it was meant to.  Yeah!  We have loaded our clothing too.

We will be heading to Peachland, BC.  We will be staying in an RV Park on the edge of the large Lake Okanagan - just south of the primary interior city of Kelowna.

Our daughter, son in law and baby Easton will join us on Thursday.  They will stay with us through the weekend when we attend a family wedding in Summerland - about 20 minutes south from Peachland.

It wasn't all work in loading the RV.  Jeanette and I did manage to get one hike in that took us along some nice horse hobby farms. This took place on Saturday afternoon.  Lovely hike through some really pleasant countryside.

We spotted these two bald eagles, in the photo below, who were scouting for field mice.  They made good with their hunt.

Jeanette got to whisper to a couple of friendly horses along the way.

Below is one example of the many hobby farms that dot this south Langley area.

On Sunday afternoon we took a motorcycle ride north toward the Fraser River.  We had heard that it was running high, with the spring melt from the mountains to the east.  It did not disappoint. The waters were running fast and high.  No threat of spilling its banks yet.

From our observation area along the mighty Fraser River, we headed west to the former pioneering capital of BC - the town of Fort Langley - for a well earned coffee....while enjoying the afternoon sun.

We look forward to hitching up and heading out, mid morning tomorrow - Wednesday.  We'll report more from the sunny Okanagan (we hope it is sunny) in later blogs.
